Cellulose grafted with polyaniline for simultaneous adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes in wastewater effluent

The adsorbent for both cationic and anionic dye based on cellulose polyaniline was prepared. Cellulose purified from sugarcane bagasse through the removal of hemicellulose lignin. Aniline polymerized in emulsion state presence ammonium persulfate as an initiator. results Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) observation determination porosity confirmed that grafted surface fiber to form cellulose-graft-polyaniline (Cel-g-PAni). Polyaniline acted adsorption sites (methylene blue) (methyl orange). Cel-g-PAni followed Langmuir model, suggesting its uniform. extent adsorbing capacity toward methylene blue methyl orange 1.57 0.75 mmol/g, respectively. These values efficient dyes. either or a mixture solution did not restrain each other. expected have potential application practical.

Effect of cationic surfactant on the adsorption characteristics of anionic surfactant on cellulose surface

Adsorption kinetics and equilibrium studies of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (NaDBS) on cellulosic surface are investigated. Modifications in adsorption induced by cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) are studied. It is concluded that the rate of adsorption and the amount of adsorption are increased. Importance of these observations in detergency is indicated.
